Egg Campervan
Competition Project, 2021
Egg has a smaller carbon footprint compared to standard caravans. Its curved shape reduces air resistance when towed by a vehicle, which helps in saving fuel and minimizing environmental impact.
Despite its lightweight and compact size, the Egg offers flexible space and innovative features through its movable and foldable components, providing users with a versatile experience.
A platform is integrated to Egg, which can be opened by rotating its handle. The platform allows users an external space where the user can connect with nature without leaving the campervan. A foldable seating unit and a foldable table are mounted on the caravan's exterior surface, enabling outdoor dining, reading, and working. The caravan entrance is accessible through two doors. A double lift-up bed is designed to save space, with a skylight above it. A service window is added between the kitchen counter and the foldable outdoor table to facilitate more efficient service. A couch is fixed to the wall, with modular storage units underneath that can be completely removed when needed, providing access to a larger storage area beneath the caravan floor. The central free space of the caravan also includes storage, with a covered cupboard solution. Technical units like clean and dirty water tanks are located in the remaining storage area. The interior is surrounded by windows, offering users a broad perspective rather than a single frame view.
